Yate United F.C. colts teams start their football careers in the way we believe is the 'right way'. Colts players, aged under 6, concentrate on learning and developing their basic skills. They receive coaching in ball control and are allowed to enjoy the sense of togetherness that their chosen sport can bring without any of the challenge and pressure bought on by playing matches, whether they be 'friendly' or otherwise. All team play occurs in a maximum of small sided format to ensure that they receive plenty of 'touches' of the ball. Numerous exercises are conducted within grids, marked out areas with a small number of players trapping, passing, moving and receiving the ball. The sessions are designed to ensure that each player has the opportunity to maximise their natural ability and express themselves as individuals. Enjoyment, is a key word.
